Château LATOUR MARTILLAC 1990
Cru Classé de Graves in 1953, Château Latour-Martillac takes its name from the tower adorning its main courtyard, a remnant of a fort built in Martillac in the 12th century by the ancestors of the famous winegrower philosopher Montesquieu. Located on an exceptional gravel soil, this area attracted the attention of Édouard Kressmann, a merchant in Bordeaux since 1871, especially for the quality of its white wines. His eldest son, Alfred, bought the estate in 1930, and developed the red grape varieties in the vineyard, and with his son, Jean, designed the current label, barred with gold and sand, which has adorned the bottles since 1934. Today, Tristan and Loïc Kressmann, the last two sons of Jean Kressmann, assisted by the best oenologist consultants from Bordeaux, continue the family tradition to obtain the quintessence of this authentic soil of graves. With their elegant structure and harmony, the Latour-Martillac red wines, as well as the whites, also classified, are recognised as reliable values of the Pessac-Léognan appellation.
The wine of the 1990 vintage is extremely famous! It was the year of success in all the vineyards.
