PLANTATION RHUM - Gran Anejo - 42 %
The history of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand in Cognac. He surrounds himself with a team of enthusiasts and travels around the world to establish a distribution network sharing the same values and the same vision as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, he set off for the Caribbean with the idea of reselling some of his used Cognac barrels to other producers, notably rum producers. In search of the best rums in the Caribbean, he created Plantation, a range of terroir rums. Today, the House is focused on three great spirits: Cognac Ferrand from Grande Champagne, French Gin Citadelle and Rum from Terroirs Plantation. Plantation also owns West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, and is a shareholder of National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond).
Gran Anejo is a blend of rums from Guatemala and Belize. The rum from Guatemala is distilled in a 4 column still, the rum from Belize in a 2 column still. They are aged in a tropical climate (3 years in ex-Bourbon barrels for the Guatemalan, and 4 to 6 years in ex-Bourbon barrels for the Belizean). They also experience a continental aging of around 1 years in ex-Ferrand barrels.
