La Croix de Carbonnieux 2017
Château Carbonnieux is located in Pessac-Léognan, in the wine region of Bordeaux. The estate was founded in the 13th Century and, throughout the following six centuries, its ownership has passed between many of France's bourgeois families, including the Bouchereau family (founder of Clos des Millésimes). The modern history of the château began in the mid-1900s, when it was purchased by the Perrin family. Marc Perrin and his son first started a significant replanting campaign that took the estate to 45 hectares in 1970 then to 70 hectares in 1980, to reach almost 95 hectares today. Château Carbonnieux strives to practice organic and sustainable farming throughout the vineyards and is labelled HVE3 (High Environmental Value Level 3).
La Croix de Carbonnieux Rouge is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%). The harvest is manual followed by a triple sorting of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and then the wine is transferred to barrels for 12 months, with a proportion of 30 to 40% of new oak.
Grape varieties: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot
