Domaine HUET - Le Clos du Bourg - Sweet 1990
Domaine Huet is located in Vouvray , in the Loire Valley . Founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston , the estate now has 30 hectares of Chenin Blanc planted on three plots: Haut-Lieu, Mont and Clos du Bourg . Huet was one of the pioneers of biodynamic cultivation in 1988.
During the harvest, the bunches are picked by successive passages and at optimal maturity according to the style of wine desired, then each plot is vinified separately. The whole bunches are put in the presses without crushing or grinding where they are gently pressed. After settling for 24 hours, the grape juice is poured into two parts: one is placed in vats, the other in old barrels. The duration of fermentation varies according to the richness of the must and the activity of the native yeasts. Each cuvée is kept for 6 months until bottling.
The Le Clos du Bourg plot was acquired by the Huet family in 1953. It now extends over 6 hectares and its shallow soil is composed of clay and limestone resting on a tufa subsoil. The 1990 vintage in the Loire was excellent , the sweet wines of Vouvray were particularly brilliant.
