Château Carbonnieux 2018
Château Carbonnieux is located in Pessac-Léognan , in the Bordeaux wine region. The estate was founded in the 13th century, and over the next six centuries its ownership passed to many bourgeois families in France, including the Bouchereau family (founders of Clos des Millésimes). The modern history of the castle begins in the mid-1900s, when it was purchased by the Perrin family . Marc Perrin and his son first began a major replanting campaign which brought the estate to 45 hectares in 1970 then to 70 hectares in 1980, reaching nearly 95 hectares today. Château Carbonnieux strives to practice organic and sustainable agriculture throughout the vineyard and is labeled HVE3 (High Environmental Value Level 3).
Château Carbonnieux Rouge 2018 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (5%) . After the manual harvest, vatting lasts 3 to 4 weeks in stainless steel vats with pumping over. Aging lasts 16 to 18 months in barrels , 35% of which are new.
