Château d'Estoublon - Red 2018
Château d'Estoublon is located in Fontvieille, in Les Baux de Provence . The castle, built in 1489, has experienced difficulties over time: fire, siege, complete destruction. Its reconstruction was completed at the end of the 17th century and then passed from hand to hand to the Lombrage family who set out to restructure the olive groves after the terrible frost of 1956. In the 1970s, the castle threatened to collapse. 'collapse. The owner of the neighboring estate, Ernest Schneider (CEO of Breitling), bought it in 1999 and undertook renovation work with his daughter Valérie Schneider and his son-in-law Rémy Reboul. They cleared, replanted and re-cultivated the olive groves, receiving advice from microbiologist Claude Bourguignon and winemaker Éloi Durrbach from Domaine Trevallon. Since then, the property has been managed by French entrepreneur Stéphane Courbit associated with the Sarkozy couple and the Prats family. In the heart of the Alpilles Massif, the vineyard extends over 18 hectares surrounded by 120 hectares of olive groves. The vines are cultivated on several terroirs, combining outcropping limestone, clay and sandy-loamy gravel. The estate is conducted in certified organic farming .
Château d'Estoublon red is a blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon . The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, concrete amphorae and stainless steel vats.
