DOG POINT - Section 94 - Sauvignon Blanc 2017
Dog Point is located in Marlborough , on the South Island of New Zealand . The estate was established by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland and is one of the oldest private wineries in Marlborough with its first plantings in the late 1970s. While working at Cloudy Bay Vineyards, Ivan met James Healy, where the duo has played an integral role in the evolution of the Cloudy Bay brand. Discovering that they shared the same aspirations, Ivan, Margaret, James and Wendy returned to a grassroots approach by launching the Dog Point label in 2004 with fruit from the 2002 vintage. Today, both couples are actively involved in all facets of the business. Succession plans are in place with the next generation of the Sutherland family involved in running the day-to-day operations. Dog Point Vineyard owns and operates New Zealand's largest certified organic 'Biogro' vineyard .
Section 94 comes from this single vineyard plot, located in the Dog Point Vineyard, whose vines were planted in 1992. The grapes are hand harvested, pressed and fermented as whole clusters. Aging lasts 18 months in French oak barrels .
