Domaine Abbatucci - Alte Rosso 2022
Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located in Casalabriva, in Southern Corsica . It is located in the heart of the Taravo valley at an altitude of around 100 meters, and is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of emblematic grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello and Nielluccio, the 21-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of endemic grape varieties which contributes to the preservation of the island's wine heritage. The estate is today managed by Jean-Charles Abbatucci and his daughter Faustine . The vineyard and winemaking techniques have followed the principles of biodynamics since 2000, with an influence from phytotherapy practices: horse plowing and control of winter grass cover with its flock of sheep.
Alte Rosso Blanc is made from Barbarossa , grown on granite arenas exposed to the North-West. The entire harvest is put into direct pressing, followed by static settling for 24 to 48 hours. Fermentation takes place in 12 hectoliter Stockinger vats. Malolactic conversion is not desired and is blocked. The wine is aged in wood on total lees for 12 months , then 3 months in stainless steel vats after the best batches have been assembled. It is finally aged in bottle for 3 to 6 months.
Grape variety: 100% Barbarossa
