Domaine Abbatucci - Alte Rosso 2023
Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located in Casalabriva, in southern Corsica . It is located in the heart of the Taravo Valley at an altitude of around 100 meters, and is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of emblematic grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello and Nielluccio, the 21-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of endemic grape varieties that contributes to the preservation of the island's wine-growing heritage. The estate is now managed by Jean-Charles Abbatucci and his daughter Faustine . The vineyard and winemaking techniques have followed the principles of biodynamics since 2000, with an influence of phytotherapy practices: plowing with horses and controlling winter grassing with his flock of sheep.
Alte Rosso Blanc is made from Barbarossa grapes, grown on northwest-facing granite soils. The entire harvest is pressed directly, followed by static settling for 24 to 48 hours. Fermentation takes place in 12-hectoliter Stockinger foudres. Malolactic conversion is not desired and is blocked. The wine is aged in wood on total lees for 12 months , then 3 months in stainless steel vats after the best batches are blended. It is finally aged in bottle for 3 to 6 months.
Grape variety: 100% Barbarossa
