RHUM CLEMENT - Homère Cuvée - 44%
The Clément house is one of the historic references of Martinique AOC agricole rum, located at the Habitation du Simon in François, in the heart of a volcanic terroir bathed by the trade winds. Since the late 19th century, the family has cultivated sugar cane as a noble plant, with particular care given to the varieties, maturities, and freshness of the juice. The Clément style has been forged around precise, elegant distillates, capable of aging for a long time in barrels without losing their agricultural identity. The emblematic Cuvée Homère pays tribute to the founder Homère Clément, a visionary figure in the history of Martinican rum. It now occupies the top of the Clément aged rum range, embodying a resolutely high-end vision of tasting agricole rum. Each bottle is aimed at enthusiasts seeking a spirited, complex spirit worthy of the greatest collectible digestifs.
Clément Cuvée Homère 44% is an aged agricole rum made from pure freshly pressed cane juice, distilled in a Creole column and then long aged in oak barrels. The blend brings together highly mature rums, patiently aged under tropical climate to concentrate aromas and refine texture. The barrels, carefully selected for the fineness of their grain, bring nuances of vanilla, precious wood, and spices while respecting the vegetal framework of the cane. The cellar master composes the Cuvée Homère like a true great wine, seeking balance between power, smoothness, and agricultural freshness. The 44% strength was chosen to highlight the aromatic depth while offering a full, silky, and perfectly civilized mouthfeel. The result is a prestigious, rare rum, designed more for slow tasting than for cocktails, with a strong Martinican terroir identity.
On tasting, Clément Cuvée Homère presents itself in a deep mahogany robe with bright amber reflections, reflecting the length of its aging. The nose is intense and refined, blending ripe cane, noble vanilla, dried fruits, candied orange, blond tobacco, and fine notes of cocoa and waxed wood. On the palate, the attack is broad and enveloping, with a rich body perfectly held by a spicy framework and a discreet freshness that avoids any heaviness. Flavors of candied fruits, dark caramel, dark honey, roasted hazelnut, and light coffee follow in successive layers, in a long and caressing texture. The finish is very persistent, marked by precious wood, cocoa, a smoky hint, and an elegant warmth that extends the tasting. This great agricole rum is ideally enjoyed neat or on a large ice cube, accompanying a dark chocolate dessert, a caramelized banana tart, spiced roasted pineapple, or a refined cigar during a moment of pure contemplation.
