Millonario XO Reserva Especial 40% is made from sugarcane molasses, distilled in old column stills inspired by Scottish design, to obtain a rich yet very smooth distillate. The rum is then aged using the Solera method, blending spirits that can be up to twenty years old, which brings a rare depth for this category. The barrels used are mainly ex-bourbon casks and casks that previously held Spanish wines or sherry, which impart notes of vanilla, dried fruits, and caramel to the rum. Only the best casks are selected to be part of this XO after many years of selection and tasting in the cellar. The final blend aims for harmony rather than raw power, with a reduction to forty percent that favors mouth comfort and accessibility.
