ALEXANDRE BAIN - Mademoiselle M 2015

 He is a UFO on his terroir of Pouilly-Fumé. One of the rare organic winegrowers in this famous appellation where sauvignon is sublimated. Alexandre was not the son of a winegrower but very early on developed a passion for the vineyard on the family farm. From the age of 18, he discovered the natural current in the movement of the wine-growing school of Beaune. He was immediately won over. “When I tasted these wines, it was huge. Before, I didn't understand anything about tasting, I tasted ten wines in a row and I saw no difference. In fact, it's not me kidding, it was them with these things all made in the same way with sulphites, yeasts. "

 After several years of traveling and internship, notably at Olivier Cousin, where he discovered the work of the vine with the horse, he created his domain in 2007 in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. An estate of 5 ha first that he pampers from the start by moving towards organic and biodynamic agriculture with the help of his horse (Phenomenon), he uses everything that nature can give him to take care of his land, its vines and the men who work them. Without yeast, without chaptalization, without filtration. Work with the lunar calendar. Like many others before him, he 'accompanies' his grape juice in wine.

Alexandre now works on 11 ha and offers several vintages including: 'Pierre Précieuse' and 'Spring' which come from grapes on limestone soils (8ha) with little or no topsoil, strong stoneiness. 'This soil brings a lot of roundness, a very sunny side.' says Mister Bain. But also the cuvée 'Mademoiselle M' which comes from another type of limestone: the famous Kimmeridgien (marl with small oyster, 140 million years old) . The earth is fatter and much more difficult to work. 'This specificity brings more structure, length to the wine and finesse.' Ripe Sauvignon Blanc, rich and fatty and for which the minerality is expressed with age.
