Château PARADIS 2015
Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Chateau PARADIS 2015

It is the story of a paradise, born on the banks of the Dordogne, in the commune of Vignonet, a small village located near Saint-Emilion, at the crossroads of the routes taken by the pilgrims of Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. The cross planted at the edge of the path that leads there, well symbolizes its location. A landmark for the pilgrims who undoubtedly found there, the lodging and the supper before setting out again, by the road of the Middle, towards their final destination.

Property of the Bardet family in the last century, then lost over the successions, it took over in 2013.

The history of the Bardet family begins in the 18th century in Vignonet: Mr. Seigneriau is a barge worker, trader in wine and cereals. The only master on board his barge loaded with precious barrels of wine, he crisscrossed the Garonne, the Dordogne and the Gironde awaiting the loading of barrels near the vines and their unloading in ports. Vignonet very quickly becomes the privileged access of the wine trade and essential passage towards the port of Bordeaux and abroad. Seeing its maritime trade prosper, the family chose to invest in the vines.

But the arrival of the railroad in the region at the end of the 19th century disrupted river trade and destroyed the barge's profession. The family then turned to its passion: the cultivation of the vine.

Jeanne, one of the daughters, marries Jean Roy, owner and farmer in Saint-Emilion. In the 1920s, their daughter Marthe-Marguerite married Henri-Gabriel Bardet, wine broker and creator of the Château du Val d'Or, at a place called La Cale in Vignonet. With the help of their only son, Roger, they acquired new land at the end of the 1960s, including Le Château Pontet-Fumet.

Roger Bardet, in his turn, transmits to his eldest son, Philippe, the values of work, passion for the vineyard and respect for the terroir. In 2008, they acquired Château Franc le Maine, the family's third Château Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. The family passion continues. Paul-Arthur and Thibault Bardet the sons of Philippe, bought in 2013, Château du Paradis. Together, they embody the next generation, the new generation of Vignobles Bardet, that of a paradise rediscovered.
