The Compagnie des Indes was founded in 2016 on the initiative of Pierre Beuchet. It is inspired by companies from the East Indies that existed in the seventeenth and eighteenth century, specializing in the trade of fine products from distant countries. The rums of the Compagnie des Indes are therefore representative of their original terroir, they are authentic rums with strong identity that invite you to travel in their native soil.

The history of the distillery dates back to the 18th century when Madame Poisson acquired the estate, then a simple candy factory. Subsequently, at the beginning of the 20th century, improvements and an investment by Mr. Rameau, who became owner of the estate, in a still and a red copper creole column will make the Poisson estate from candy to high quality distillery. . Mr. Rameau decided to pay homage to his rums to a pioneer in the techniques of distilling fresh cane wine, Father Labat *. These rums of quality elaborated in line with the great agricultural rums by the Poisson distillery have since been baptized the "rums of Father Labat".

This 20 year old Gaudeloupe rum distilled by the distillery - Père Labat in May 1998 is a Single Cask, that is to say that it is a rum from a single cask and a Cask Strength, c This means that it has not been reduced, it is a raw rum of barrel. This particularly rare edition was carefully bottled by the Compagnie des Indes in France in November 2018 without cold filtration for the most authentic expression of this exceptional rum.

This bottle series was limited to 101 copies.

* For those who wonder, Jean-Baptiste Labat was a multi-talented Dominican missionary who helped modernize the sugar cane industry in the early 18th century.
