Domaine Boris Champy - Petit Aigle 2023
The Domaine Boris Champy is located in Nantoux, on the heights of the Côte de Beaune, in the heart of the Hautes-Côtes, where it has established itself as one of the most innovative and demanding estates in Burgundy. Former technical director of the Louis Latour house, Boris Champy chose these high-altitude terroirs for their natural freshness and potential for pure expression. The vineyard is situated between 350 and over 400 meters in altitude, in a preserved environment, benefiting from favorable thermal variations that allow slow and balanced ripening. The clay-limestone soils are worked with extreme precision to preserve microbial life and the energy of the terroir. The estate is managed with Demeter certified biodynamics, with controlled yields and rigorous manual work. This philosophy places Domaine Boris Champy among the major references of the new Burgundian terroir expressions.
The cuvée Petit Aigle 2023 is a Pinot Noir from parcels located at altitude, offering an aerial and precise reading of the grape variety. This cuvée embodies the estate's approach: producing digestible, taut wines deeply rooted in their environment. The 2023 vintage, marked by a beautiful balance between maturity and freshness, allows the Pinot Noir to express itself with frankness and brilliance. The vinification is carried out with minimal intervention, with gentle extraction to preserve the finesse of the fruit and the delicacy of the tannins. The aging is conducted with sobriety, aiming to support the wine without ever masking its identity. Petit Aigle stands out for its purity, clarity, and energy, offering a very contemporary interpretation of Burgundy Pinot Noir.
On the palate, the wine reveals a fresh and expressive nose of crunchy red fruits, cherry, raspberry, and subtle floral notes. The mouth is straight, fluid, and elegant, supported by fine tannins and a mineral framework that brings tension and verticality. The body is light without being thin, with a sensation of precision and persistent freshness. The balance between fruit, acidity, and structure gives the wine great drinkability. The finish is clean, saline, and delicately spicy, leaving a remarkable impression of purity. This Pinot Noir will ideally accompany roasted poultry, white meats, or refined cuisine, and can also evolve harmoniously over a few years.
