Tempo d'Angélus 2024
Created in 2019 under the impetus of Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, Tempo d'Angélus offers a more immediate expression of the Boüard de Laforest family universe. Developed under the Bordeaux appellation, it comes from parcels located in Castillon-la-Bataille and Sainte-Colombe, just a few kilometers from Saint-Émilion. The vines take root on clay-limestone slopes specifically selected for this cuvée, where Merlot occupies a predominant place. The vinification is carried out at the Chai Carillon in Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, in facilities designed to work the different lots with precision. Tempo thus maintains the technical requirements of the house while seeking a more accessible expression in its youth. The 2024 vintage was marked by a mild and wet winter followed by a particularly rainy spring, before dry and sunny July and August favored the ripening of the grapes. On these clay-limestone terroirs, Merlot notably found a favorable balance between ripeness, freshness, and aromatic expression.
Tempo d'Angélus 2024 blends 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The former brings fleshiness, suppleness, and fruity intensity that naturally structure this cuvée, while the Cabernet Franc adds more freshness and spicy nuances. After a demanding start to the season, the dry period of July and August allowed the grapes to gain concentration and character. September, more irregular, nevertheless allowed the harvest of fruit with satisfactory ripeness. The vinification work favors aromatic clarity and controlled extraction to preserve a supple texture rather than an imposing structure. The 2024 thus stands out with an energetic palate and velvety tannins, in a deliberately accessible register. This construction allows for relatively young tasting while leaving the wine a few years to gain harmony.
The color shows a deep ruby hue with violet reflections still marked by youth. The nose favors fresh red and black fruits, with nuances of cherry, blackberry, and plum mixed with a floral register. The Cabernet Franc gradually brings fine pepper and spice touches that give more relief to the whole. On the palate, Merlot offers a supple and generous attack, supported by a velvety body and a well-present freshness. The tannins remain fine and integrated, giving the wine a precise structure without hardening its gourmand character. The finish prolongs the fresh fruits, flowers, and spices with a sensation of energy characteristic of the vintage. Tempo d'Angélus 2024 will accompany duck breast, roasted veal chop, beef fillet, poultry with mushrooms, or aged soft cheeses.
