Champagne Larmandier Bernier - Latitude

Domaine Larmandier-Bernier is located in Vertus, on the terroirs of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne. The house was founded by Philippe Larmandier and Elisabeth Bernier in 1971, has been managed by Pierre and Sophie Larmandier since 1988, and their son Arthur joined it in 2017. Since 1999, biodynamic viticulture has been practiced throughout the estate and native yeasts are used for fermentation. The estate seeks to make wines that express their terroir. The 18 hectare vineyard, with vines averaging 35 years old, is certified organic and the Vertus plot is classified Premier Cru and Cramant, Chouilly and Avize are all classified Grand Cru . The grape variety grown is mainly Chardonnay with Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. They do not buy grapes from outside because they consider that winemaking could not be the same without complete confidence in the grapes.

Latitude is a cuvée made from Chardonnay grown on the Côte des Blancs south of Vertus and supplemented with reserve wine (40%). The grapes are delicately pressed and the juices very lightly settled then directly into the barrel. Natural alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation occur spontaneously in Stockinger barrels and tuns . The wines are aged on lees for the first year, without filtration or fining. After vinification, blending and printing take place in July. The bottles are aged on slats for the second fermentation in the bottle for at least 2 additional years. Each bottle is manually disgorged 6 months before marketing. It has an Extra-Brut dosage of 4 g/L .
