COGNAC TESSERON - CARAFE LOT 76 - 40%
Domaine Tesseron is located in Chateauneuf-sur-Charente, in the Cognac appellation. The property was acquired by Abel Tesseron in the 18th century, when he began to collect rare and prestigious Cognacs. This tradition has been carried on by his son and grandson Alfred, who now runs the company and also owns Château Pontet-Canet, Fifth Growth in Bordeaux.
The three traditional grape varieties of cognac, Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard are still cultivated in the Tesseron estates. The Folle Blanche and the Colombard have almost disappeared from the region being difficult to cultivate and giving only a low yield. The distillation period is strictly controlled from October 1 to March 31 of the following year. The distillation of Tesseron Cognacs is carried out in red copper stills, in two heats and over an open fire. Only the "heart" of the distillation will be kept for the production of Cognac. The eaux-de-vie are then aged in oak barrels made by artisans from hundred-year-old trees felled in the forests near Limousin.
Lot 76 (XO Tradition) is a blend of the best reserve collections of Cru Grand Champagne. It is made from Ugni Blanc, then aged for over a generation in Limousin oak barrels.
