Chateau BELLEGRAVE 1978
The vines of Château Bellegrave, an estate located in the south-west of the Pomerol appellation, have been cultivated by the Bouldy family from father to son for over 60 years. Thus they know all the plots intimately , with their specific requirements and their weaknesses. To express them as well as possible, the choice of organic farming has been favored, with a conversion in progress to produce grapes as healthy as possible, without resorting to fertilizers and other phytosanitary treatments of chemical origin.
The vineyard covers 11 hectares, of which nearly 8 are planted with Merlot and the rest with Cabernet Franc. The terroir, precisely revealed during a cut of the land 4 meters deep in 2010, is a mixture of pebbles, sand and clay well drained and suitable for the 2 grape varieties which sink their roots deep to draw their substance. .
Let's listen to Jean-Marie Boulby: my father passed on his passion to me and taught me attention. My generation has tools that it didn't have. This makes it possible to achieve better success in difficult vintages . Thus, the estate has very sophisticated sorting tables to refine the harvest , temperature-controlled vats for precise vinification and Allier oak barrels for well-controlled aging.
