The water used for 25 year old Hakushu whiskey passes through layers of granite in the Southern Alps to Mount Kaikomagatake, designated as the purest area in the Japan zone. The crystal clear waters that slide Mount Kaikomagatake venture into the rock and accumulate until they are separated into Jingu Ojira and rivers. These streams create an alluvial fan of white sand at the foot of the mountain, whose name is Hakushu, which means "white sandbank." "
