Domaine Georges Noëllat is above all a terroir and above all a family story. The Domaine is spread over 5.5 hectares of premiers and grands crus set in the prestigious valleys of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The biggest names are there, just around Domaine Noëllat such as La Romanée-Conti, Liger-Belair, Anne Gros, Rouget or even Méo-Camuzet.
Some of the estate's plots have century-old vines planted by the ancestors of the young winegrower Maxime Cheurlin. Indeed, the domain was created by Georges Noëllat, great-grandfather of Maxime. When he died, the estate was managed by his wife until 1986, then Marie-Thérèse, Maxime's grandmother, held the reins until 2009 to finally make way for youth and innovation. Maxime Cheurlin takes over the management of the Domaine, having just graduated from the Beaune wine-growing school. It is not the pressure which reaches this young man of 20 years, but the desire, the desire to appear, like his neighbors, among the greatest of Burgundy.
From his first vintage (2010), the young winemaker revolutionized the style of the house. The key word is to highlight the terroir. The aging is better controlled (fewer new barrels) and refined according to the typicity of each plot and vintage. In the vineyard, everything is done by hand, no chemical treatments and natural yeast fermentation. He seeks freshness, a “pleasure” wine, density and opulence in its youth, which will be able to refine in complexity and elegance in maturity. There is no doubt that Domaine Georges Noëllat has a more than promising future.
