GRAN PASSIONE - Rouge 2019
Cantine Bertoldi is an Italian wine estate situated 12km from the city of Verona in Veneto. The estate is particularly known for its Valpolicella and Amarone wines.
Cantine Bertoldi was founded by Emilio Bertoldi in 1932. The estate has since passed through several generations of the Bertoldi family, who now cultivate approximately 20 hectares of vineyards planted to native grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, Garganega, Trebbiano and Cortese, as well as more internationally recognized varieties including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
The Gran Passione is a blend of Merlot (60%) and Corvina (10%). It has a strong structure, and a good balance between acidity and soft tannins. The fruit flavours are ripe, with undertones of spices and vanilla. A great alternative to the more expensive Amarone della Valpolicella.
