Version Française - Ninkasi 2016 - 46%
Version Française is a La Maison du Whisky négoce range, made up of French spirits. The aim is to favour short circuits and encourage local consumption.
Ninkasi was created in 1997 in Lyon, initiated by 3 young people who had recently graduated with a simple idea: to implement the concept of American micro-breweries in France and start the craft beer movement. The company defends strong values of emergence, short circuits, and the mixing of professions, audiences and styles. Building on their brewing success, and with the idea that whisky is inseparable from beer, the distillery opened in 2014 and the first whiskies were released three years later. The cask selected for Version Française is made from a blend of equal parts of 35ppm peated malts and unpeated malt. The must ferments for 72 hours and is distilled in a Charentais type still (25 hectolitres). The whisky is then aged in ex-barrels of Condrieu and Montagny. It comes from a Single Cask (#8) which produced 342 bottles.
