The history of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand in Cognac. He surrounds himself with a team of enthusiasts and travels around the world to establish a distribution network sharing the same values ​​and the same vision as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, he set off for the Caribbean with the idea of ​​reselling some of his used Cognac barrels to other producers, notably rum producers. In search of the best rums in the Caribbean, he created Plantation, a range of terroir rums. Today, the House is focused on three great spirits: Cognac Ferrand from Grande Champagne, French Gin Citadelle and Rum from Terroirs Plantation. Plantation also owns West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, and is a shareholder of National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond).

This edition was distilled in 2009. The rum has aged for 11 years in Trinidad in a tropical climate in ex-Bourbon barrels. It was then aged for an additional year at Château de Bonbonnet in Cognac Ferrand barrels.
