SCREAMING EAGLE - Second Flight 2011
Screaming Eagle is located in the Oakville appellation, in Napa, California. Jean Philips established the vineyards in 1986 and set about selling fruit to local producers in Napa. After a few years, the decision was made to set up a winery, the first vintage of Screaming Eagle was released in 1992. Robert Parker rated this first vintage 99 points, therefore a cult status was sealed. In 2006, Screaming Eagle was famously sold to Stanley Kroenke and Charles Banks for an undisclosed sum, rumored to be upwards of $30 million. Nowadays Kroenke owns Screaming Eagle outright.
Second Flight is the second wine of Screaming Eagle. The 2011 vintage is a blend of Merlot (54%), Cabernet Sauvignon (42%) and Cabernet Franc (4%). It is made from the vineyard’s younger vines.
Grape varieties: 54% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc
