Champagne A. Bergère - Origine - Magnum
Champagne A. Bergère is located in Epernay, in Champagne. The brand was founded by Albert Bergère in 1949, when he began to make his Champagne using family vines. His son André, accompanied by his wife Brigitte Martin, took over the management of the estate and extended the vineyard significantly: 14 terroirs on the Côte des Blancs. Each year, supplies of grapes from renowned villages and prestigious terroirs complete the harvest, offering a wide range of possibilities in the blends.
After the manual harvest, the grapes are pressed and alcoholic fermentation begins after clarification. In January, the team meets for blending of different grape varieties, vintages or years. The wines created are bottled accompanied by the liqueur de tirage which allows the creation of foam. During this second fermentation, the bottles are placed in the cellar for an average of 3 to 4 years. After aging, the bottles are disgorged and then dosed with the liqueur d’expédition which defines the dosage. The bottles then return to the cellar for a minimum of 3 months before being marketed.
Origine is a blend of Chardonnay (70%), Pinot Noir (20%) and Meunier (10%) whose vines are cultivated on the terroirs of Fèrebrianges, Etoges and Congy. Part of the wine from the 2018 vintage is vinified in 228-litres barrels and blended with 30% reserve wines. The Champagne was disgorged in January 2021 and dosed with 7 g/L of sugar.
