Château DE FIEUZAL 2013
Château de Fieuzal is located in the Pessac-Léognan des Graves appellation, in Bordeaux . It obtained the status of Grand Cru Classé de Graves for its red wines in 1959 as part of the Graves classification. The estate's vineyards are planted on gravel, clay and sand soils covering approximately 75 hectares. The vines are on average 35 years old; the plantations of Petit Verdot are the oldest and some date back to 1908. Since 2001, Fieuzal has been owned by Brenda and Lochlann Quinn , an Irish couple passionate about wine and determined to perpetuate the unique character of the estate. Since 2007, a renewed team has been led by talented young winemaker Stephen Carrier , who works tirelessly and with passion in pursuit of perfection. Entirely rebuilt in 2011, Fieuzal now has new vinification facilities with concrete, stainless steel and wooden vats, which makes it possible to adapt to each vintage and each grape variety. Very involved in the environment, Château de Fieuzal has been moving towards organic farming since 2016.
The Grand Vin du Château de Fieuzal is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (20%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (5%) . After the manual harvest, the bunches and berries are sorted in the vat room. Each grape variety is vinified separately. The fermentations and macerations last 3 to 4 weeks in stainless steel vats. The juice is then transferred to barrels, 65% of which are new. Then the aging is carried out in barrels for 12 to 16 months .
