Chairman's Reserve - 13 years old - Vintage 2008 - Private Bottling - Antipodes - 59.30%
Chairman's Reserve is a rum produced by St. Lucia Distillers Group Ltd on the island of Saint Lucia in the West Indies . The Barnard family first settled in Santa Lucia in the 1930s and established their distillery making rum from the molasses produced by the island's sprawling sugar cane plantations. Due to the rise of European sugar beet, the local sugar industry was forced to disappear and the last two distilleries formed a joint venture to consolidate their operations, creating what are known today as the St. Lucia Distillers. Laurie Barnard set out to restore Santa Lucia's rum providence and created the Chairman's Reserve. Since the island's last sugar plantation closed in the 1960s, they source their rich molasses from British Guiana.
This edition has been selected by La Maison du Whiskey as part of its Antipodes range. The rum was distilled in a John Dore 2 pot still and then aged for 13 years in a single ex-Bourbon cask ( #0469062008) . 265 bottles were produced.
