GLENFIDDICH - Small Batch - 18 years - 40%
Glenfiddich is located in Dufftown , in the Speyside region of Scotland . The distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant , who built the distillery himself, with the help of his nine children. The introduction of Prohibition in the United States in 1920 was disastrous for most distilleries in Scotland, but Glenfiddich saw an opportunity. It was one of six distilleries still in operation at the time of repeal, and its management actually increased production during the period. Thus, Glenfiddich was ideally placed to meet the increased demand after the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, thus bolstering its reputation in the United States. Glenfiddich is known to respond well to difficult times and when the whiskey industry collapsed in the 1960s and 1970s the company again expanded production and began a series of advertising campaigns actively marketing whiskey as a than Single Malt, in its famous triangular bottle.
The distillery has an extensive infrastructure ; the 28 stills can produce 10 million liters of spirits a year, making Glenfiddich the largest distillery in Scotland . Glenfiddich's parent company, William Grant & Sons , also owns the Balvenie distillery, as well as Grant's blend, Hendrick's Gin and Drambuie liqueur.
