Abbatucci Estate - Imperial Minister 2023
Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located in Casalabriva, in southern Corsica . It is located in the heart of the Taravo Valley at an altitude of around 100 meters, and is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of emblematic grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello and Nielluccio, the 21-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of endemic grape varieties that contributes to the preservation of the island's wine-growing heritage. The estate is now managed by Jean-Charles Abbatucci and his daughter Faustine . The vineyard and winemaking techniques have followed the principles of biodynamics since 2000, with an influence of phytotherapy practices: plowing with horses and controlling winter grassing with his flock of sheep.
Ministre Impérial is a blend of Morescola, Morescono, Aléatico, Carcajolo Nero, Montanaccia, Sciaccarello and Nielluccio. The terroir is composed of granite to sandy-loam soils facing north and northwest. The harvest is destemmed and not crushed. Maceration is carried out in truncated cone-shaped vats and vatting lasts approximately 1 month with daily punching down and pumping over. Aging lasts 12 months in demi-muids , then 6 months in stainless steel vats after the blending of the best batches.
