KARUKERA - Vintage 2009 Velier - 11 years old - Single Cask n°L7 - Japoniani Series - 58.2%
Karukera is a rum distillery located in Sainte-Marie , Guadeloupe , on the Marquisat de Sainte-Marie estate. In 2005, François Longueteau bought the Marquisat de Sainte-Marie agricultural estate and the Espérance distillery located in the heart of the estate from his father with the desire to maintain the family heritage. The distillery's production then focused on white rum and amber rum, bottled under two brands that made the family famous: Mon Repos and Longueteau rums. Grégoire Hayot , an engineer by training, was then financial director at the Damoiseau distillery, where he participated in the modernization of the production tool and the construction in 2005 of a new aging cellar. He wanted to develop the production of old agricultural rum in Guadeloupe. Grégoire was then looking for a distillery with the main criterion of mastering and freshness of its sugar cane supply. Naturally, he got along with François Longueteau who became his partner, and together they created the company Marquisat de Sainte-Marie. On November 2, 2006, Karukera carried out its first aging from Longueteau distillate with 87 310-liter barrels supplied by Seguin Moreau. In 2007, Karukera had its cellar built, which includes an aging area, a workshop for refining white rum, a packaging workshop, storage areas, a laboratory as well as a tourist reception area and a shop.
This edition of Karukera was selected by Velier . The old agricultural rum was distilled in 2009 at the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie, and aged for 11 years in a single barrel ( #L7). The rum was bottled in March 2020. 312 bottles were produced.
