Planteray Rum - Trinidad - 2003 - 47.8%
The history of Planteray (formerly Plantation) began in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand in Cognac . He surrounded himself with a team of enthusiasts and traveled around the world to establish a distribution network sharing the same values and vision as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, he went to the Caribbean with the idea of reselling some of his used Cognac barrels to other producers, particularly rum producers. In search of the best rums in the Caribbean, he created a range of terroir rums . Today, the House is focused on three great spirits: Cognac Ferrand de Grande Champagne, Gin Français Citadelle and Planteray Rhum de Terroirs. It also owns West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, and is a shareholder in National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond).
Vintage Collection No. 3 Terravera is made from 40 ex-Bourbon casks of the finest Trinidadian rum. It was column distilled in 2003 at Trinidad Distillers Limited (TDL) from molasses. It was first aged for 19 years in a tropical climate in Trinidad, then aged for an additional 3 years in Maison Ferrand casks in a continental climate in Javrezac.
