Clos Rougeard - Brézé 2019
Clos Rougeard is located in Chacé, in the Saumur-Champigny appellation in the Loire region . The " Foucault brothers ," Charly (Jean-Louis, who died in 2015) and Nady (Bernard), represented the last of the family's eight generations. They were pioneers of organic farming from the very beginning, refusing to give in to the temptation of synthetic products and thus gradually inspiring other winemakers. Since 2017, the Bouygues family has owned this impenetrable estate and these legendary wines, true gems located in Saumur-Champigny. Today, the estate finds its balance thanks to Richard, the vine enthusiast, and Jacques-Antoine, the wine craftsman. A duo who, along with the team, work to perpetuate the excellence and uniqueness of the wines, whose depth, finesse, and precision are unparalleled. Its 11-hectare vineyard, spread over 20 plots, extends mainly over clay and limestone soils. At the heart of this terroir, so respectful of its microfauna and microflora, the purest grapes are expressed. This is evidenced by the quality of its very old vines, some of which are a hundred years old and have never seen a single chemical product. At Clos Rougeard, the wines evolve and refine over time. The excellence, finesse, and depth of these wines are achieved by aging for more than two years in barrels and aging to maturity for several years in the heart of the tuffeau cellars, seven meters deep.
Brézé comes from the finest limestone terroir in Brézé. The aromatic richness of Chenin Blanc is revealed through two separate harvests, creating a balanced blend of almost saline freshness and ripe fruit.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
