Thibault Liger Belair Estate - Burgundy Aligoté - Clos des Perrières la Combe 2021
The Thibault Liger-Belair estate is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy . Its history is linked to the C. Marey and Comte Liger-Belair establishments, created in 1720 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, which were among the most important wine breeding and trading houses in Burgundy. In 1982, Xavier Liger-Belair sold the trading company and died shortly after. That same year, his son Vincent, supported by his mother, took over the family buildings, restructured the estate and reorganized sharecropping with three winegrowers from the coast so that one of his sons could take over the estate when the time came. All of the estate's vines have been in the family since the 18th century and Thibault Liger-Belair took over the cultivation of the vines given as sharecropping in 2001. His 8-hectare vineyard is managed using certified organic farming . In 2003, he created the company Thibault Liger-Belair Successeurs , a grape purchasing business. Between June and July, he harvests the grapes from partner winegrowers himself, then vinifies and ages these wines. In 2008, he purchased plots in Moulin-à-Vent , a Beaujolais Cru, at Domaine des Pierres Roses.
The Bourgogne Aligoté "Clos des Perrières la Combe" is made from Aligoté grown in the commune of Nuits-Saint-Georges, planted in 1978. After manual harvesting, the grapes are macerated on the skins for 1 week, followed by a long pressing of 8 hours. The aging is carried out in oak barrels (no new barrels) for 15 months .
Grape variety: 100% Aligoté
"A rare skin maceration for this grape variety, which gives it depth and texture, almost unexpected for an Aligoté. A vintage that could well convince the most loyal Chardonnay lovers."
