Domaine Camille Braun - Riesling - Fronholz - Cuvée DIU 2022
Domaine Camille Braun is located in Orschwihr, a wine village in the south of the Alsace Wine Route, at the heart of an area known for its dry hillsides, complex soils, and wines with strong identity. The Braun family has been cultivating vines for several generations, with an approach now clearly focused on terroir precision and respect for living things. The estate is certified organic, Demeter, and Biodyvin, confirming a demanding biodynamic management throughout its vineyard.
The Riesling Fronholz "DIU" 2022 cuvée is part of a rare production, apart from the classic range. Only one barrel with 300 superb bottles. Its name associates the king grape variety of Alsace with a parcel or lieu-dit origin, in the spirit of a more confidential terroir wine than commercial. This rarity makes it a particularly interesting cuvée for lovers of singular, precise, and little-distributed Alsatian Rieslings.
The Riesling naturally expresses a straight, tense, and chiselled framework, carried by the energy of the 2022 vintage and the estate's biodynamic philosophy. The nose can be imagined as a fine expression of citrus, white flowers, warm stone, and delicate yellow fruits, with the noble restraint typical of terroir Rieslings. On the palate, the wine stands out with a lively structure, a beautiful length, and a marked mineral sensation. The matter remains precise, without heaviness, with a balance built more on tension than opulence. The expected style is dry, gastronomic, and luminous, with a saline finish that extends the expression of the soil. This DIU 2022 cuvée is thus conceived as a characterful Riesling, more confidential and refined than demonstrative.
Served around 9 to 11°C, it will perfectly accompany noble fish, crustaceans, creamy poultry, refined Alsatian cuisine, or slightly spicy dishes. Its natural tension will also allow it to pair with finer accords around vegetables, citrus, fennel, or lemon butter sauces. With a few years of aging, it should develop more complex nuances, between wax, fine honey, candied zest, and a slight petrol note typical of great evolved Rieslings. Its rarity requires considering it as a discovery bottle, intended for curious lovers of cuvées outside the usual circuits. It is a confidential, vibrant, and deeply gastronomic wine, to be reserved for tables capable of highlighting its finesse. A true favorite.
