Anne and Jean-François GANEVAT - Au sommet 2021
The Au Sommet 2021 cuvée by Anne and Jean-François Ganevat is an ambitious and unique interpretation of riesling, made as a white Vin de France from grapes sourced from old vines classified Grand Cru. This cuvée follows a free approach, independent of appellations, to prioritize the purest expression of the terroir and the grape variety. The vines are planted on pink granite soils, giving the wine a marked mineral identity and great natural tension. The work is based on long time and demanding vinification, faithful to Jean-François Ganevat's artisanal philosophy. Au Sommet is a wine of depth, conceived as a work of patience and precision. The 2021 vintage reveals all its complexity and elegance. It is a rare cuvée, intended for lovers of structured and distinctive great white wines.
The nose is distinguished by great aromatic intensity, blending notes of ripe citrus, lemon zest, and white-fleshed fruits. Upon aeration, stony and slightly smoky nuances appear, a direct signature of the pink granite. On the palate, the attack is broad and structured, supported by dense and deeply textured matter. The natural freshness of riesling perfectly balances the richness derived from the long aging. The mineral framework is omnipresent, giving the wine a vertical and precise reading. The aromatic evolution is slow and progressive, revealing great complexity. The finish is long, saline, and intensely persistent.
Vinified with indigenous yeasts, without fining, filtration, or any addition of sulfur, Au Sommet 2021 benefited from aging of more than three years in demi-muids, followed by an additional year in bottle before release. This long aging work gives the wine remarkable depth, natural stability, and great richness of texture. It is a wine for aging, capable of evolving over many years while retaining its tension and precision. This cuvée fully illustrates the demanding and radical vision of Anne and Jean-François Ganevat. An extraordinary riesling, mineral, powerful, and of great nobility. A masterful expression of the grape variety carried by time.
