Château Fonroque 2018
Château Fonroque, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, embodies the pure and vibrant vision of the vineyard championed by the Moueix family. Under the leadership of Alain Moueix, a pioneer of biodynamics on the Right Bank, the estate strives to precisely express the personality of its clay-limestone terroirs, located on the plateau and western slopes of Saint-Émilion.
The warm and generous 2018 vintage produced grapes at ideal ripeness, dense and perfectly balanced. The blend is based primarily on Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, vinified gently to preserve the energy and freshness of the fruit. The aging, in French oak barrels, including a reasonable proportion of new wood, refines the texture and reinforces the aromatic complexity without overpowering it.
The nose seduces with its depth and refinement: black cherry, blackberry, and plum mingle with notes of violet, truffle, and cedar. On the palate, the wine displays a velvety and concentrated texture, balanced by a mineral framework and beautiful tension. The precise and silky tannins frame a pure and vibrant fruit. The finish, long and straight, reveals nuances of fine spices, cocoa, and warm stone, marking the nobility of the limestone terroir.
A remarkably elegant Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, combining power and balance, to be enjoyed today after aeration or kept for around fifteen years. Serve between 16 and 17°C.
