Château Grange Cochard - Fleurie 2022
Located in Villié-Morgon in an 18th-century château, Château Grange Cochard has expanded its historic Morgon range to now produce six vintages, including a Fleurie Bel Air. The work in the vineyard is carried out with a quest for authenticity and respect for the soil; since the 2023 vintage, the vines have been certified organic. This approach is part of a desire to deliver precise and elegant terroir-driven Beaujolais, where the expression of the place prevails.
This 2022 Fleurie comes from the Bel Air sector, a granite hillside renowned for producing floral and satiny Gamay aromas. The vinification follows the house's guidelines: hand-picked, slow maceration at controlled temperatures to preserve the purity of the fruit, then aging in French oak, divided between foudres and Burgundy barrels, to refine the texture without marking the wine. The 2022 vintage, sunny and harmonious in Beaujolais, offers juicy fruit maturity balanced by natural freshness.
The brilliant ruby color announces a crisp and charming Fleurie. The nose opens with peony and violet, raspberry and wild strawberry, with a hint of citrus and a fine stony imprint. The palate is silky and slender, carried by a clean fruit center and a salivating frame that stretches the finish; the tannins are delicate, precise, and leave an impression of purity and great drinkability, faithful to the spirit of Bel Air.
Serve at around 15–16°C (gently aerated) to highlight the floral bouquet. At the table, this Fleurie gracefully accompanies roast poultry, grilled pigeon, medium-cooked tuna, plant-based dishes with herbs, or even soft, lightly aged cheeses. Its freshness makes it an excellent spring and summer red, equally at home with market cuisine or a gourmet table.
Grape variety: 100% Gamay.
