Domaine Chiroulet - Terres Blanches 2024
In the heart of the Côtes de Gascogne (Gers), Domaine Chiroulet is run by the Fezas family, who have been producing luminous, precise, and vibrant wines for several generations. The vines, deeply rooted in windswept limestone and white marl soils, produce whites of exemplary freshness and a beautiful length on the palate.
A name of terroir as much as of style, Terres Blanches highlights the chalky minerality of the limestone hillsides. The 2024 vintage produced ripe, clean grapes, allowing for delicate pressing and then vinification by grape variety before blending to preserve aromatic purity and balance. The short aging on fine lees (vat) adds volume without masking the tension.
Pale and bright color, silver highlights. Precise and bright nose: citrus (lemon, grapefruit), white peach, acacia flowers and a saline/chalky touch typical of limestone soils. Straight and chiseled palate, with a fine touch; the lively attack slides towards a juicy fruit heart, carried by a fresh acidity and a trace minerality. Long, clean finish, on zest and wet stone. A pure, energetic and gastronomic Gascon white.
Perfect as an aperitif, with oysters and shellfish, sea bass ceviche, sashimi, grilled fish (sea bream, pollock), lemon-roasted poultry, light Asian cuisine, and fresh goat cheese. Serve at 10–11°C (not too cold); peak 2025–2028. Terres Blanches embodies the Chiroulet signature: aromatic purity, straightforwardness, and salinity. A style without artifice, centered on terroir and drinkability, which makes this cuvée a sure bet among the great whites of the Southwest.
Grape varieties: Gros Manseng, Sauvignon Blanc, Ugni Blanc
