Domaine de l'Arlot - Hautes Côtes de Nuits Le Mont 2023
Located in Premeaux-Prissey, Domaine de l'Arlot cultivates a precise understanding of its terroirs through organic viticulture initiated in 2000 and certified in 2014, complemented by biodynamic practices implemented since 2003. This demanding cultivation, carried out plot by plot, aims for Pinot Noirs of clear purity and controlled texture.
The 2023 Mont comes from a single, one-hectare plot located on the hills above the village at an altitude of 400 meters. Facing southeast, it overlooks the slope just above the renowned Clos des Forêts Saint Georges. This Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits appellation wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes, with careful intervention to preserve the vibrancy of the fruit and the purity of the vintage.
The nose opens with crisp cherry, raspberry, and redcurrant, then aeration reveals peony, a hint of orange peel, and a delicate touch of sweet spice. The palate combines the freshness of high altitude with controlled ripeness. The precise attack leads to a heart of juicy red fruit supported by a very fine chalky structure. The tannins are silky, firm without being harsh, and support a lingering, flavorful finish. The finish is direct and mouthwatering, with a hint of cherry pit, white pepper, and a mineral sensation that prolongs the persistence.
At the table, Le Mont 2023 pairs well with pink veal fillet, free-range poultry with herbs, pigeon with chanterelles, or a grilled steak. It also complements brown mushroom risotto, glazed root vegetables, and soft, bloomy-rind cheeses such as a mature Brie de Meaux, which respect its delicate texture and burst of freshness.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
