Domaine des Croix - Beaune 1er Cru - Les Tuvilains 2023
The Domaine des Croix – Beaune 1er Cru Les Tuvilains 2023 exemplifies the finesse and precision of David Croix, a perfectionist winemaker and a leading figure in the Côte de Beaune region. Located on a south-facing slope, the Les Tuvilains vineyard is planted with shallow clay-limestone soils, producing wines with remarkable aromatic intensity and an elegantly structured texture.
The 2023 vintage, marked by beautiful climatic homogeneity and serene harvests, allowed for perfect ripeness of the grapes. The Pinot Noir expresses a brilliant purity. Gentle vinification, measured extractions and patient aging in oak barrels (including a limited proportion of new wood) reflect the estate's philosophy: to reveal the truth of the terroir without artifice.
The nose opens with a subtle bouquet of black cherry, raspberry, and violet, supported by notes of graphite, sweet spices, and undergrowth. On the palate, the attack is straightforward and precise; the body, ample but chiseled, is supported by fine tannins and a mineral tension that characterizes the Beaune limestone. The finish, long and persistent, combines depth and freshness, with nuances of morello cherry, licorice, and damp earth.
A distinguished and vibrant Premier Cru, both delicate and structured, faithful to the elegant style of David Croix. Enjoy young for its brilliance, or after five to ten years for its complexity. Serve between 15 and 16°C after aeration.
