Domaine d'Eugénie - Chassagne Montrachet - Les Perclos 2023
Domaine d'Eugénie, located in Vosne-Romanée in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, is one of Burgundy's most demanding wineries. Heir to the former Domaine René Engel, it combines tradition and contemporary precision under the direction of a team driven by the pursuit of purity and balance. Each wine is the result of meticulous work, from the vineyard to the ageing process, with absolute respect for the terroir.
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Perclos marks the estate's southernmost expression, produced from a carefully selected climate on the stony slopes of Chassagne. The Chardonnay vines draw their energy from deep limestone soils, producing grapes of exemplary tension and ripeness. Fermentation takes place naturally, followed by aging on fine lees in oak barrels for twelve months, some of which are new, to preserve the fruit's freshness and refine its texture. The 2023 vintage is distinguished by its aromatic brightness and its balance between fullness and straightforwardness.
The nose reveals a delicate palette of white flowers, juicy pear, and fresh almond, enhanced with a touch of brown butter and wet stone. On the palate, the texture is full and enveloping, driven by fine acidity and racy minerality. The long, vibrant finish blends limestone tension and buttery elegance, recalling the finest balances of the Côte de Beaune.
Ideal with roast turbot, truffled Bresse poultry, or lobster poached in lemon butter. Serve between 12 and 13°C, after opening briefly.
