LA GRANGE TIPHAINE - Clef de Sol white - Magnum 2024
La Grange Tiphaine is an emblematic family estate in the Loire Valley, located between Montlouis sur Loire and Touraine Amboise, where Coralie and Damien Delecheneau craft chenin blanc wines of great purity. The vineyard is managed using organic and biodynamic farming, with meticulous care given to the soils, natural balances, and biodiversity. The old vines, sometimes nearly a century old, rooted in poor sandy soils, flint clays, and limestone, yield naturally low quantities for maximum aromatic concentration. Each plot is observed like a garden, hand-harvested at just the right moment to preserve the identity of each Montlouis sur Loire terroir. Clef de Sol white has established itself as the signature cuvée of La Grange Tiphaine, a benchmark for lovers of great Loire chenins. In magnum format, this cuvée reveals even more the seriousness and vision of the estate, with a prolonged expression of freshness and complexity.
Clef de Sol 2024 is a Montlouis sur Loire made from very old chenin vines planted on soils mixing leached sands, flint clays, and limestone subsoil, which give the wine its tension and depth. The 2024 vintage, bright and perfectly balanced, allowed for the hand-harvesting of healthy grapes at just the right maturity, combining richness of matter and sharp acidity. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place slowly in barrels of different volumes, only with indigenous yeasts, to respect the signature of the terroir and vintage. Aging on fine lees, without rushed racking, brings texture, patina, and aromatic complexity while maintaining great precision. The choice of magnum format accentuates the strengths of this cuvée, with slower evolution, better aromatic stability, and extended aging potential. Clef de Sol white Magnum 2024 thus presents itself as a great Loire white for gastronomy, made for special occasions, patient cellars, and large gatherings.
On tasting, the wine reveals a pale gold robe with green reflections, bright and clear, promising freshness and energy. The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of white flowers, linden, and honeysuckle, enhanced by notes of ripe pear, baked apple, and quince, with a background touch of citrus and gunflint. On the palate, the attack is straight and precise, then the mid-palate gains breadth, with a dense yet fluid texture, supported by a saline and mineral frame that is characteristic of Montlouis sur Loire chenin. Flavors of white fruits, ripe lemon, light honey, and fine spices follow in great harmony, extended by beautiful noble bitters. The finish is long, vibrant, chalky, inviting both gastronomy and aging. This Clef de Sol white Magnum 2024 pairs magnificently with roasted noble fish, pike-perch with beurre blanc, seared scallops, farm poultry with cream, asparagus risotto, or aged Loire goat cheeses. The magnum format also makes it an ideal choice for festive meals, large friendly or family gatherings, where its freshness and elegance are generously shared.
