OCTOMORE - 16.3 - Edition 2025 - 61.6%
Octomore 16.3 – Edition 2025, bottled at 61.6%, is the most singular and deeply rooted expression of the 16 series trio. Produced by the Bruichladdich distillery on the Isle of Islay, this single malt perfectly exemplifies the estate's ethos of transparency and terroir. Here, extreme peat combines with the pure identity of a place: Islay Barley 2016, made exclusively from barley grown on the Octomore farm itself.
Distilled in 2017 from 274 ppm malted Islay barley, this whisky was aged in first-fill American and European oak casks, carefully selected to balance strength and texture. Bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration or coloring, it offers a raw and clear reading of the connection between earth, climate, and smoke.
The nose opens with controlled intensity: dense, saline peat, heather honey, candied lemon, and creamy vanilla, supported by notes of toasted almond, leather, and damp earth. On the palate, the texture is ample, oily, and impressively deep. Aromas of warm smoke, nuts, cocoa, and roasted malt mingle with marine and slightly lemony touches. The warmth of the cask strength underlines the minerality of the terroir, while the finish is long, saline, and persistent, stretching out over notes of ash, noble wood, and smoky vanilla.
A monumental Octomore, both wild and precise, where peaty intensity meets the clarity of Islay terroir. The purest and most introspective expression of the 16 series, designed for lovers of strong sensations and extreme balance.
