Château POUGET 1993
Margaux
Château Pouget takes its name with the arrival of François-Antoine Pouget at the head of the estate in 1748. Marshal-Duke of Richelieu, very attached to wine, will give it the coat of arms which still stands on the label. But Château Pouget really entered the history of great Bordeaux in 1855 with the accession to the rank of fourth Grand Cru Classé.
The Marshal-Duke of Richelieu is at the origin of the coat of arms and the motto of Château Pouget. “The love over your heart will extend its power. Your verb will be clear like the rooster crowing. Like the Lion you will not fear the shock. If you fill your stomach with this nectar. "
Since 1906, the estate has been in the hands of the Guillemet family. As an experienced technical director, Lucien Guillemet ensures that his wine expresses the beauty of these gravel soils that make the whole world dream. With him, Château Pouget is managed with conviction and subtlety.
Margaux par excellence, an astonishing marriage of depth and finesse. At Château Pouget, particular care is taken with the harvest date, so as to obtain grapes at optimum maturity, sorted in the vineyard and in the cellar, expressing all the finesse of this great terroir.
1993 : At mid-veraison, the composition of the grapes was close to that of 1989 and 1982, for a slightly less precocious vintage. The weather remained hot and dry until the first days of September.
The rains were then important, with fortunately rather low temperatures.
The grapes showed a marked dilution at harvest, which the vinification was able to partially compensate. The wines are very supple, without the exuberant character that we often know them in our conditions of soil. They still need time to develop their bouquet.
