This Moulis-en-Médoc is produced on 90 hectares dominated by glacial gravel with, in margin, clay-limestone soils. For this wine, Château Maucaillou blends 3 grape varieties: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and the rest in Petit Verdot, all of these vines being 25 years old on average. The vinification follows Bordeaux traditions and takes place in temperature-controlled vats, before maturing for 18 months in new barrels in proportions ranging from 50 to 75%, depending on the year. The result is a wine with a complex and subtle nose that reveals aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant, blueberry and cherry, with hints of sweet spices. The palate is smooth, solid and ample, with a certain length. The well-integrated tannins during aging give this Médoc a great aptitude for aging.
