Château Sociando-Mallet is located in the town of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, about ten kilometers north of Pauillac, in the Haut-Médoc appellation. A document dating from March 1633 refers to noble lands in this town, belonging to an aristocrat of Basque origin named Sociondo, and a family member of which was Bishop of Bayonne. There is also a document from 1750, relating to the vines of the Demoiselle Anne de Sossiondo. Over the years, “Sociondo” (or “Sossiondo”) became “Sociando” due to a spelling error.
Jean Gautreau, the founder of the cru, the first to have noticed the high quality of the wine-growing soils of the commune of Saint Seurin de Cadourne, modified the recipe a little this year, we proceeded to grub up old Cabernet Sauvignon and we are increased in volume on the Merlots in the blend. 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 60% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
Spicy nose, liquorice, black fruits, woody, full mouth, fresh broad silky, coated, soft, long, very soft mellow, a cool version of Sociando.
