Ruby color. Pleasant nose with notes of red fruits, floral notes, peony and sweet spices. A mouth full of finesse on delicate and elongated fruit. A nice tasty texture for this Grenache blend in a sunny vintage.

The Marañones bodega, created in 2008 by Fernando Garcia, is part of the DO (the equivalent of our AOCs in France) of Madrid. It is located 70 kms east of Madrid in the sub-district of San Martin de Valdeiglesias between Toledo and Avila and at the confluence of the Sierra de Gredos and the Sierra de Guadarrama. The region is particularly hilly with many alluvial valleys. The climate is Mediterranean. The summers are hot, the winters cold and long. The average annual precipitation is 650 mm per year and the rain falls mainly in autumn and spring. The estate's vineyards are located between 650 and 850 meters above sea level on the northern slopes and the temperature range between day and night is significant. The vineyards on hillsides are particularly well ventilated, which considerably reduces fungal diseases (downy mildew, powdery mildew). It is therefore a land particularly well suited to the cultivation of vines. The main varieties are Grenache Rouge and Albillo Real (white) which come from local mass selections. Grenache in this region has a very floral aromatic palette, a lot of elegance and delicacy. The acidities are well marked and the wine has a lot of minerality. Average yields are between 20 and 30 hectoliters per hectare. Each plot is worked separately and all fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts. The whites undergo a pre-fermentation maceration and are pressed very lightly. After a natural settling of 24 hours, the wines are aged on fine lees in French oak barrels of 500 to 700 liters for 8 to 12 months. The reds are mainly fermented as a whole harvest in French oak casks of 30 to 45 hectoliters. Delicate maceration, punching down, low temperature fermentation in indigenous yeasts and malo-lactic fermentation in tuns are the main characteristics of red wine making at the estate.
