Château Sociando-Mallet is located in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne in Haut-Médoc appellation. It was bought by the family Sossiondo in 1633 and became "sociando" afterwards due to a misspelling in the name of the family owner. In 1831 the estate became Château Sociando-Mallet when the castle owner married Achille Mallet. But since 1969, it is Jean Gautreau who is at the head of this Cru Bourgeois.
The estate covers 85 hectares with vineyards aged on average 30 years old. They are planted on a soil of serious Guntzian and on a clay-limestone subsoil. The two main grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon at 48%, Merlot at 47% and Cabernet Franc at 5%. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels.
