PLANTATION RHUM - XO 20th anniversaire - 40%
The history of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand in Cognac. He surrounds himself with a team of enthusiasts and travels around the world to establish a distribution network sharing the same values and the same vision as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, he set off for the Caribbean with the idea of reselling some of his used Cognac barrels to other producers, notably rum producers. In search of the best rums in the Caribbean, he created Plantation, a range of terroir rums. Today, the House is focused on three great spirits: Cognac Ferrand from Grande Champagne, French Gin Citadelle and Rum from Terroirs Plantation. Plantation also owns West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, and is a shareholder of National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond).
The XO 20th Anniversary was created to celebrate Alexandre Gabriel’s 20th year as Master Blender of Plantation rums. This is a blend of 12 to 20-year-old rums, all from Barbados and distilled in double column and Pot Still. Tropical aging lasts 8 to 15 years and continental aging and maturing lasts 2 to 10 years in different types of barrels ranging from new white oak to Bourbon barrels as well as Ferrand barrels, each with a different level of toasting.
